The virtual time travel experience “VR Tartu 1913” takes you on a walk along the beautiful shores of the Emajõgi River in Tartu, a century ago. It is a scorching August, and the dusty city streets are marked by the Stone Bridge with its barges, the towering Bellevue Hotel at the beginning of Raatuse Street, and the first local cinema, “Illusion.” Instead of the current Atlantis building, there is a hay market, accompanied by the creaking of horse-drawn carriages on cobblestone roads. Nearby, the grand Art Nouveau architecture of the Jakor Inn stands proudly.
Rent VR glasses and travel back to the authentic university town of 1913. This direct, immersive, fact-based experience is an emotional journey that makes history colorful, spatial, and creates the feeling that it is happening here and now.
While you physically move between four viewpoints on both sides of the River Emajõgi, we promise that after this time travel, you will see the world differently.
